Ballot Block Denied, Clearing Path for Virginia Key Referendum

The latest advancement in a decade-long dispute over the future of the Virginia Key marina property occurred this Sunday, as Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Lisa Walsh denied an expedited motion for preliminary injunction to block the voter referendum on a developer’s proposed $80 million overhaul of a city-owned Miami marina site. Representing the City of Miami, Coffey Burlington’s own Kendall B. Coffey, Daniel F. Blonsky and Scott A. Hiaasen successfully defended the City’s ability to bring the matter before Miami voters, allowing the community to have the final say on the future of this valuable public waterfront property.
