Paul Schwiep Pushes Effort for Lasting Closure of Alligator Alcatraz

Amid the positive development of detainee removal from Alligator Alcatraz, attorney Paul Schwiep –representing groups including Friends of the Everglades, the Center for Biological Diversity and the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians– presses the Department of Homeland Security on unconfirmed plans for permanent closure of the facility. Activists cite a lack of accountability with regards to taxpayers’ money, environmental impact, and inhumane practices.
